Respite Services

In Home Respite

ALARA provides respite services for children and adults in their own home or local community. The number and timing of hours will depend on the funding source available.

Centre based Respite

ALARA provides centre based day services and community participation services based in Ipswich, Esk and Lockyer through our Luke’s Place centres.

The core funding of each of the services is to provide day respite. Priority access to services is given to individuals requiring support to maintain their home living situation and strengthen the carer’s capacity to provide support.

Centres provide access to a diverse range of activities dependant on the interests and preferences of individuals and the group. Programs offered are tailored to individual needs and may include general life skills development, computer use for recreation or further education, gardening, craft, visual and performance arts, meal planning and cooking, physical fitness or outings with a recreation and leisure focus. Support is also offered to investigate and access local facilities and participate meaningfully in community life.
The number and variety of activities available through each service will depend on the funding, location, and the staff and volunteer resources available.

Transport is provided to and from the centres using wheelchair accessible mini buses within a set radius.

Respite for Adults - Lockyer Valley

ALARA receives funding from Disability Services for the provision of in-home respite and out of home support to assist carers of adults with a disability who live in the Lockyer area. Access to this service is via the Disability Services Service Pathway.
