Support at Home
ALARA provides a range of flexible and responsive support services to assist at home and in your local community.
Accommodation Support
ALARA can assist you to use your Disability Services Individual funding or Block Funding allocation, self-directed or private funding to tailor an at home support service to meet your needs.
This service can be provided on a regularly rostered or drop in basis. Your staff can assist with meal preparation, household tasks, personal hygiene and care, shopping, attending appointments and household management.
ALARA will assist you to select a team of support workers that you feel comfortable and confident with and will ensure on-going appropriate training and support.
An after-hours on call support is available on weekends and public holidays to ensure your service runs smoothly and there is a point of contact in the case your needs change.
In designing your service ALARA will work in partnership with you, your family and your support network to ensure that we fit seamlessly into your lifestyle and routine.
Community Care Services
Are you a person with a disability who is under 65 or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person aged under 50? You may be eligible for assistance through the Community Care program. This program provides basic support (usually one to five hours per week).
ALARA is funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services through the Community Care branch to provide the following in-home services:
- Domestic Assistance - such as cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing
- Personal Care
- Social Support - assistance to attend appointments or do the shopping or banking
- In-home Respite - to provide a break for carers
Commonwealth Home Support Program
ALARA receives funding from the Federal Department of Health and Ageing through the Home and Community Care Program to ensure continuity of services for a small number of people with a disability who have turned 65 or if an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person, the age of 50.
